Scheduled for May 3, this vote will determine whether this bustling hub, which lies along the U.S.-Mexico border, will become its own municipality named Starbase. Cameron County has overseen this initiative, driven by a petition signed by over 70 residents, including community members and families. With more than 100 children residing in the area, this decision marks a significant step toward formalizing the community's identity. Notably, if the vote passes, Starbase will be the first new town in the county since Los Indios was recognized in 1995.
